Business was good for Bany Wells, but he wanted to make the
Web site for his Texas~based company, Automotive facilities, more
strategic. Expanding the online marketing of his car dealership
services, however, required an upgrade to his Web presence. Now,
his site pops up on the first page of every relevant Google search.
"It's not just about clicks," shares Wells. "It's about converting
those clicks into appointments or sales opportunities." Had he
not improved his online advertising, Wells admits his business
probably would have failed.
For entrepreneurs looking to add more of the estimated $133.6
billion in e-commerce revenue to their own sales figures, Sergio
Alvarez, COO and founder of Ai Media Group, points to search
engine marketing, which advertises Web sites by making them
more visible in results pages.
"By using a combination of keywords, ads land] geographic
targeting," he advises, "a business can focus their advertising
dollars on the search phrases and locations that generate leads
[back to their Web sites] instead of wasting them on generic ads."
